Position Title: Youth Program Coordinator
Reports To: HOMEY Program Director
Status: Non-exempt, Part-time, 32 hours
Schedule: Monday – Friday, some Saturdays and evenings may be required.
Hours negotiable depending upon scheduling needs.
Salary: $18 to $20 per hour, D.O.E.
HOMIES ORGANIZING THE MISSION TO EMPOWER YOUTH (HOMEY)
Homies Organizing the Mission to Empower Youth (HOMEY) is a San Francisco non-profit organization, established in 1999. HOMEY’s aim to reduce Latino and Latina youth (ages 14-24) exposure to violence and assist them with academic success, life-skills, and individual self-reliance. Over the last sixteen years HOMEY focused its violence prevention work in various areas: school-based workshops and groups, street outreach, case management, economic development, and an evening safe haven referral service. HOMEY has a proud and positive history of youth development and civic engagement in the Bay Area.
YOUTH PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Under the immediate supervision of the HOMEY Program Director, this position is responsible for the coordination of HOMEY’s youth program and activities. The Program Coordinator is responsible for providing support to the Director in program administration and providing direct services to youth in the HOMEY Program, who seek to abandon high-risk lifestyles and/or activities.

A B O U T U N P A I D I N T E R N S H I P S
Volunteer internships are for individual who are interested and motivated to work with youth and young adults in San Francisco. Generally, we ask that volunteer interns work for HOMEY between 10 to 14 weeks in duration (one school semester) and require a minimum commitment of 30 hours dependent on the program interest. If you are interested in working with youth and young adults to help become successful and self-sufficient, please consider applying.

Each of HOMEY’s programs are distinct; individuals interested in an internship should carefully review the program and describe their interest in the application. The best way to secure an internship with HOMEY is to fill out the application, and contact us via phone or e-mail to discuss details and potential placement.
HOMEY accepts volunteer applications year-round, however we prioritize individuals that contact us in early January, May, and September at the beginning of each school semester.

P R E P A R I N G F O R Y O U R I N T E R N S H I P
HOMEY receives over 40 volunteers annually. Many, many more people apply for an internship than we have space. Keeping up with status inquiries and tracking incoming and outgoing interns can be a challenge. We provide 3 training sessions in the Fall, Spring, and Summer for our new volunteers. We have also prepared several work sheets with information detailing everything we could think of. If you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to contact us.
