WHY VOLUNTEER AT HOMEY?
HOMEY is a great place to volunteer. Our agency began by volunteers, so we honor and appreciate the work of each and every volunteer that supports our organization. There is often many special programs, events, and workshops — something new here every month including our amazing volunteers. We try to connect volunteers with special activities and you become part of our volunteer alum group, And there's more. All volunteers receive discounts on our Native Graphix apparel. But, the best part about being a volunteer is that you work with or for our program participants.
ABOUT VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering is for individuals who are interested and motivated to work with youth, young adults, and families that reside in San Francisco. Generally, we ask that volunteers to work at HOMEY between 10 to 14 weeks in duration (one school semester). Although, this is time period is not requirement, we do recommend you consider volunteering more than a few hours to get the best experience at the agency. If you are interested in working with youth, young adults and families that HOMEY works with, please consider applying. We do accept volunteers for longer or shorter durations as well.
PREPARING TO VOLUNTEER
HOMEY receives over 40 volunteers annually. Many more people apply to volunteer than we have space. Keeping up with status inquires and tracking incoming and outgoing interns/volunteers can sometimes be a challenge for our small staff. We provide ongoing training sessions with an emphasis in the Fall and Spring. Feel free to contact us at (415)861-1600 or [email protected] for general questions.
APPLICATION PROCCES
Each of HOMEY’s programs is distinct, so individuals interested in volunteering should carefully review the program and describe your interest in our application. The best way to volunteer with HOMEY is to fill out the application online, or contact us via phone or e-mail to discuss details and potential placement. HOMEY accepts volunteer applications year-round, however we prioritize individuals that contact at the beginning of each school semester in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.
HOMEY TURN AROUND
Disclaimer: HOMEY reserves the right to deny volunteer applications and run background checks on all our volunteers and staff.
