HOMEY is a great place to volunteer. Our agency began by volunteers, so we honor and appreciate the work of each and every volunteer that supports our organization. There is often many special programs, events, and seminars — something new here every month including our amazing volunteers. We try to connect volunteers with special activities and you become part of our volunteer alum group. And there's more. All volunteers receive discounts on our Native Graphix apparel. But, the best part about being a volunteer is that you work with or for our program participants.

Volunteering is for individuals who are interested and motivated to work with youth and young adults in San Francisco. Generally, we ask that volunteers to work for HOMEY between 10 to 14 weeks in duration (one school semester) and require a minimum commitment of 20 hours dependent on the program interest. If you are interested in working with youth and young adults to help become successful and self-sufficient, please consider applying.

Each of HOMEY’s programs is distinct, so individuals interested in volunteering should carefully review the program and describe your interest in our application. The best way to secure an internship with HOMEY is to fill out the application, and contact us via phone or e-mail to discuss details and potential placement.
HOMEY accepts volunteer applications year-round, however we prioritize individuals that contact us in early January, May, and September at the beginning of each school semester.

HOMEY receives over 40 volunteers annually. Many, many more people apply to volunteer than we have space. Keeping up with status inquiries and tracking incoming and outgoing interns can be a challenge. We provide 3 training sessions in the Fall, Spring, and Summer for our new volunteers. If you don't find what you're looking for here, feel free to contact us.
